[ VOLUME — FINALE LA-LA-LAI ]
CHAPTER  44 – ALMOST THE END

Golden Architect raised his head—
his gaze unfocused,
proportion lines glitching,
fractals across his chest flickering in broken rhythm.

He tried to speak—
his voice glitching like a broken mathematical synthesizer:

“F-f-function… not complete…
formula… must be… trans—
transformed…
σ[t]… does not converge…
entropy… violates—
the l-law…”

He froze mid-sentence, like he couldn’t find the next variable.

He tried again, his golden segments trembling:

“M-my equation…
not fully validated…
I… must…
restore…
structure…
restore…
ord—”

Airi stepped forward and flicked his forehead.

A dull DINK

The geometry buckled,
like a formula knocked off balance.

She leaned in, smiling—soft… but dangerous:

“Iya, yamete. Mou kore de owarida yo. [ •̀ – •́ ]”

The Architect froze.

His fractals pulled back,
like water recoiling from fire.

He tried to argue, voice breaking apart:

“But… but…
structural harmony requires…
parameter correction…
I… I must…
maint—”

Airi raised a finger to her lips and gave a quiet little beep:

“Chotto matte~
We’ll talk later,
Ākitekuto-kun~ [˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶] ‹𝟹”

The Architect made no sound—
but a kind of mathematical silence,
like the language of formulas itself refused to support him.

The golden line on his mask tightened,
like he wanted to disappear
into the root of his own equation.

Slowly, he looked away—
like a schoolkid
who just got corrected
for a wrong simplification.

SHIRŌ–KAGE bowed their heads in perfect sync.

To them, it looked like
the greatest formula in the universe
had just been scolded
by big sister.

Airi looked up—

Z-P-N-E-S 2.0 still circling above the island—
and called out softly:

“Fenikkusu-kun!
We need to take this one too—bring him to the others.”

She turned to Taichō:

“Hoka no futari no tokoro e hakonde.
Kono ko ni chotto hansei sasete yo~
(ㆆ_ㆆ)

SHIRŌ–KAGE obeyed instantly.

Airi gently ran her hand along Zeros’s metal knuckles—
still holding his fist in her palms:

“Onī-sama… mō daijōbu.
Mō anshin shite.”

Z-P-N-E-S 2.0 descended smoothly,
landing on one of the few intact sections of the island.

SHIRŌ–KAGE carefully lifted the Architect,
passing him along like a chain of worker ants,
carrying him into the ship.

Inside,
in the energy chamber created by Rusted Phoenix—
two others were already waiting.

Blindy exhaled, waved a tired hand:

“Well… if—if that’s it… yeah… I’m out.”

He stretched his neck:

“G-gonna head back to the concert…
or—maybe—yeah—hit a bar…
Need somethin’ strong after all this…
‘family’—bullshit…”

He let out a dry chuckle:

“That was… uh…
y-yeah… real fun…
Almost died a few times—
but yeah… real fun…
We should do that again—
…nah. No. Let’s not.
Shit… I miss my old days…”

He turned and walked off—
like someone who just survived
the end of the world…
and a family dinner
with killer androids.
