CHAPTER  18 – PLACE OF BATTLE

Kanzaki watched the slaughter in silence,
not even the corner of his mouth moving.

He spoke quietly:

“Kore wa meiyo no tatakai de wa nai.
Tada no niku-biki-ki da.”

He drew his katana.

The blade left the sheath so smoothly
that even the silence seemed to sit down for a second
and pass out.

Nobuhiro took his stance and added:

“Kairelin… now I see.
Kyōdai Hajime truly created a monster.
And killing you…
will be the work of my entire life.”

At that exact moment,
Blindy, finally completing his slow descent,
landed directly on a ventilation shaft—
and was instantly sucked inside.

“F-f-f-fuuuuck—!” he managed to stretch out
before disappearing into the darkness of the duct.

Zeros ignored him completely.

Like Blindy was just atmospheric noise.

He raised his right hand,
closing it into a fist before
slowly extending his index finger upward—
not a signal,
not quite a command—
just that finger.

Then, with his left hand,
he made a small,
almost courteous motion—
an invitation.

Nobuhiro moved.

“FŪGA-ZAN・ISSHIKI—AMAKAKERU YAIBA!”

He surged forward.
The air split.
The surrounding molecules lost their minds
and started glowing violet,
because what the hell kind of speed was that.

The blade flashed so fast
it began to heat—
like it had a built-in grill mode.

And every strike—
Zeros blocked
with a single finger.

The same finger
that a second ago
was pointing at him.

Nobuhiro accelerated.

Faster.

Sharper.

The sound tightened.

Sparks ran along the blade—
bright, electric—
like fireworks during Lunar New Year.

Zeros didn’t move.

His finger shifted in short, smooth arcs,
like he wasn’t deflecting lethal strikes—
but brushing flies off a table.

Nobuhiro jumped back.

Flicked his hand—
and instead of another sword strike,
launched three shuriken,
their edges screaming with plasma.

Zeros deflected them with his free left hand.

Just—clickclick.

One of them embedded into his jacket.

Zeros didn’t give a single fuck.

He raised his index finger.

It was red—
like molten lava.

Kanzaki’s blade glowed almost white-hot.

Another second—
and it would melt to hell.

Kanzaki was breathing hard.

Wiped his forehead with the back of his hand.

Growled:

“Kuso… ittai nani nan da?!
What the fuck… are you?!”

Zeros didn’t answer.

He turned slightly,
scanning the area.

Thermal vision picked up a red blob—

Blindy,
crawling on all fours inside the vent shaft
like a broken starfish
trying to remember how existence works.

Perfect opening.

Kanzaki launched forward.

So fast
a shockwave rippled across the platform,
floor panels groaning under the force.

Zeros didn’t even turn.

He simply—
caught the blade.

By hand. Right on the edge.

The metal screamed. Vibrated. Tried to resist.

Didn’t matter.

Zeros tilted his head exactly 47 degrees.

Like it was written in a manual.

One step. Mach 3. His elbow drove forward.

The impact was catastrophic.

Kanzaki’s body convulsed—
everything inside him collapsing,
compressing,
then bursting outward
in a single violent release.

Blood.
Organs.
Pressure—

all breaking free at once.

What remained was thrown backward
like artillery,
a torn mass slamming
into the structure’s side.
