Radio Nebula 69.99 FTLM!
[A short cosmic jazz jingle—like someone resurrected Kenny G a thousand years later, mummified him, and then forced him to play saxophone again just for this station]
[Dick, in a tired, rough baritone]
“Dear gremlins… I’m sure a lot of you are thinking:
‘What the hell kind of filler were we just listening to?’And yeah… same here.
I didn’t write it.Complain to the author.
My job is to read it… and suffer.”
[Jackie leans closer to the mic—quietly, like she's sharing something personal]
“Well… Dick…
You know, I’ve never actually been to Mülldeponie.
And honestly… all of that sounded really interesting to me.I was a bit of a rebel, that’s true!
But my uncle, unfortunately,
never allowed me to go to bars
or… um… questionable places at night.”
[She giggles softly, like she's justifying herself to herself]
“And then… work, life… everything keeps moving…
And suddenly there’s no time anymore. So hearing how people live there,
in a world so different from mine…I really did find it interesting.”
[Dick slips back into that warm, late-night, slightly smoky voice]
“Well, sweetie…
if you liked it…
even if you’re the only one…
then I guess reading all this wasn’t for nothing.”
[A short pause—like a smile without a smile]
“Alright then…
let’s play a little music…
and then we’ll continue this fucked-up story
that, for some reason, people call life.”
[Switch clicks]
[Dick, with that signature velvet static in his voice]
“Alright, dear gremlins…
we continue our late-night radio podcast
Night with Melody and Jackie Rho™
on Radio Nebula 69.99 FTLM…”
[Dick nods to Jackie—she catches the cue and smiles into the mic, stretching her words playfully]
“And with us today—as always—oooour
one and ooonly,
unreeeepeatable,
incoooomparable,
amaaazing,
and deeeeply loved by aaall…DIIIICK MEEEEELOOOOODYYYY!”
[Dick smiles, satisfied, like a cat that just got called handsome]
“And right here in the booth with him—
Jaaaacqueline ‘Jaaaaackie’ Rhooooo:
smart,
stunning,
and, damn it,
the best DJ in the entire UNIVERSE.”
[Dick lets out a small chuckle]
“Quick reminder…
she also happens to be the stepdaughter
of the highly respected Ma Dong-Rho…”
[A short pause]
“…who is, of course,
in no way connected to us.At all.
Absolutely.Not even remotely.
Doesn’t even touch us with a ten-foot ear.”
[He coughed, like trying to cover up a very loud lie]
“Alright, alright…
let’s continue the story.”
